School Sued In Another YouTube Complaint

LOS ANGELES (CN) - A student says Beverly Hills Unified School District unconstitutionally suspended her for making a video she posted on YouTube, which contains no threats, profanity, or "hate speech," but only "opinions about other students." And, she says, when she was reinstated, the district prohibited her from wearing a T-shirt supporting Barack Obama.

The student's parent claims Beverly Vista School assistant principal Cherryne Lue-Sang suspended their daughter for alleged "cyber bullying," and principal Erik Warren backed her up. She also claims that no action was taken against the student in the video who uttered the words that the administrators complained about.

Plaintiffs demand declaratory judgment, an injunction, $1 in damages, and costs. They are represented in Federal Court by S. Martin Keleti with Cohen & Cohen.
