School Says Gateway Took Advantage

FORT WORTH (CN) - Gateway leased 135 computers to a school for $251,000, then failed to fix "a cascading series of failures" despite promising next-day service, forcing the school to buy new computers from Lenovo and saddling it with debt for useless junk, the Fort Worth Academy for the Education of Children and Youth claims in Tarrant County Court.

The nonprofit school says "dozens" of Gateway's computers were out of service at a time, and that despite Gateway's promises, "by fall 2007, the next-business-day on-site repair service was nonexistent." The school Gateway demands $188,000 "come hell or high water," for its useless computers.
