Save the Whales!|Watch Some Porn

SEATTLE (CN) – A pornography website will help celebrate World Whale Day on Saturday by donating a penny to whale conservation for every 2,000 views the site registers for three weeks.
PornHub, a free adult video streaming website, said it will donate a penny for every 2,000 views it gets from February 8 to 29 to Washington’s nonprofit whale conservation group Moclips Cetological Society.
“Sperm whales, humpback whales, we love them all! So please help us save the ocean’s gentle giants,” PornHub Cares’ Save the Whales campaign said in a statement.
“Here at Pornhub, we care deeply about the environment and the preservation of wildlife,” Pornhub vice president Corey Price said in the statement that, perhaps surprisingly, made no reference to Moby Dick.
“We’re now asking our community turn their attention to – and help save – a different type of blowhole, one that belongs to a majestic species that once swelled in numbers throughout the oceans before commercial industries initiated their demise,” Price said.
The Moclips Cetological Society was founded in 1969. It conducts the Northwest Regional Orca Survey and operates the Center for Whale Research to “continue and expand benign techniques for researching whales,” according to its website.
“Humans are not the only mammals that engage in sexual activities for reasons other than procreation,” Moclips Cetological Society president Ken Balcomb said in a statement about PornHub’s campaign.
“Cetaceans – whales, dolphins and porpoises – are very sexual animals and have evolved a variety of fascinating social life histories beyond simple procreation. Although our primary goal is to ensure effective conservation for cetacean species, our academic goal is to educate the public about their social and biological lifestyles that readers might find very interesting.”
PornHub Cares is the porn site’s “official philanthropic division” and has contributed to charities for breast cancer and testicular cancer awareness through “Save the Boobs” and “Save the Balls” campaigns and an Arbor Day fund raiser “Give America Wood.”
As of Wednesday night, the site’s active tracking counter showed more than 867 million videos played for the campaign. At a penny for every 2,000 views, that comes to $4,335.
