Save the sandhill skipper

HUMBOLDT COUNTY, Nev. — The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service proposed new rules to protect a rare subspecies of butterfly under the Endangered Species Act. Climate change and groundwater pumping have caused the bleached sandhill skippers’ habitat, alkali wetlands in northern Nevada, to warm and dry.
