Satanist’s Suit

A self-proclaimed Satanist who participates in “sex magick rituals” lost his second suit challenging Illinois laws prohibiting adultery, fornication and bigamy. The man could not show a “reasonable fear of prosecution” under the adultery and fornication statutes, the Eighth Circuit ruled, and his bigamy claim is barred by Supreme Court precedents. 

ST. LOUIS — A self-proclaimed Satanist who participates in “sex magick rituals” lost his second suit challenging Illinois laws prohibiting adultery, fornication and bigamy. The man could not show a “reasonable fear of prosecution” under the adultery and fornication statutes, the Eighth Circuit ruled, and his bigamy claim is barred by Supreme Court precedents.
