CHICAGO —The Satanic Temple sued the city of Chicago in federal court Wednesday over its refusal to allow an ordained minister of the Satanic Temple to deliver an invocation before City Council meetings “without providing any clear explanation of why.” The Establishment Clause requires that the opportunity to deliver a legislative prayer be made available “in a non-discriminatory manner,” according to the lawsuit.
