SAN DIEGO (CN) - Twin brothers admitted they defrauded sports fans and left them stranded in distant cities after taking their money for tickets and hotels that they never bought, through their business, L&T Sports Events.
Anthony Donald Casias and Leo Ronald Casias Jr., both of San Diego, admitted that when they got their hands on the advance payments, they "fraudulently diverted the funds to other uses, thereby leaving clients stranded in other cities without hotel accommodations, transportation, game tickets, and flights back to San Diego," the U.S. Attorney's Office said.
They also used one client's credit card to pay for another client's trip to Hawaii, prosecutors said in a statement.
The twins are in jail and will stay there at least until an Oct. 4 custody hearing. They face up to 20 years in prison at their Jan. 6, 2014, sentencings for conspiracy to commit wire fraud.
The FBI asked victims of L&T Sports to call them at (858)320-1800.
