San Antonio’s New Parade Law| Called Unconstitutional

SAN ANTONIO (CN) - The City of San Antonio on Thursday enacted a "New Parade Ordinance" that unconstitutionally charges organizations as much as $18,000 for the right to hold a parade to express constitutionally protected speech, the International Women's Day March Planning Committee claims in Federal Court. The ordinance requires organizers of "First Amendment events" to pay the full cost of police traffic control and traffic control barriers, except for the first $3,000. Before Thursday, the only cost was the permit. See complaint.
