Salmonella Outbreak Hits Alamosa, Colorado

COLORADO (CN) - More than 200 suspected cases of salmonella poisoning were reported in Alamosa in the past week in an outbreak officials believe may be traceable to the city's drinking water system. Residents have been told to stop drinking tap water or cooking with it, and the city plans to flush the system with chlorine on Tuesday, The Associated Press reported. Nine people have been hospitalized and the Colorado National Guard has been called out to distribute drinking water.
