Salesians Accused of Covering Up|Teacher’s Repeated Sexual Depredations

MARTINEZ, Calif. (CN) - Salesian High School hired Rickey Bonds II as a biology teacher despite knowing that "he had already impregnated a Salesian High School student," and he proceeded to sexually abuse another girl for months on a daily basis, she claims in Contra Costa County Court. And she claims that after Bonds was arrested, the Salesians "attempted to cover up the abuse and discourage other victims from coming forward by instructing students, faculty and staff not to speak with the police about Bonds."

Jane Doe sued Salesian High School, the Salesian Society, Salesians of Don Bosco, and Rickey Bonds II. She claims The Salesian Society's long-standing practice of facilitating and covering up child sexual abused continued in 2006 and 2007 in this case," while she was a sophomore.

The complaint states: "Defendants hired Bonds despite knowing that he had already impregnated a Salesian High School student. Numerous student and parental complaints were made to school officials about Bonds' fitness to teach teen girls. At the time he was hired by the Salesian defendants, they further knew of his unfitness and emotional instability because they were aware a restraining order was still in effect because of violence he had repeatedly and recently committed against a young woman who would not return his affection."

She that "six months after plaintiff cut all ties with Bonds and the school, a faculty member finally reported to police Bonds' abuse of plaintiff. Bonds was arrested and convicted of the abuse.

She is represented by Raymond Boucher of Beverly Hills.
