SAN FRANCISCO (CN) - Two San Francisco police officers were convicted Friday of conspiring to steal seized property, and other charges.
A federal jury convicted Ian Furminger, 47, of Pleasant Hill and Edmond Robles, 46, of Danville of conspiracy to steal from a federally funded program, and devising a scheme to defraud and obtain money and property through wire fraud, the U.S. Attorney's Office said.
The officers worked in plainclothes out of the Mission Station. Prosecutors said in a statement that they conspired to use their positions by stealing money, computers, electronic devices, and gift cards that were seized on behalf of the City of San Francisco.
They also were convicted of defrauding the government by filing false police reports, prosecutors said.
They face decades in prison at their Feb. 23, 2015 sentencing. They are both free on bond.
