Russian Behemoth Dominates EU Energy

Showing the Russian behemoth's strength in the energy market, trade between the EU and Russia has roughly tripled since 2000. Exports to Russia leaped from 23 billion euro to 89 billion, but imports jumped higher from 64 billion to 144 billion. As a result, the EU's trade deficit with Russia increased to 54 billion in 2007, primarily due to energy imports which went from 36 billion euros in 2000 to 94 billion in 2007
