Rubio, Cruz, Clinton Win Overshadowed Contests

(CN) - Sen. Marco Rubio won the Republican presidential caucus in Washington, D.C.. on Saturday, one of two GOP contests and a single a Democrat caucus held during a news cycle largely dominated the continued fallout from a postponed Trump rally in Chicago.

Sen. Ted Cruz handily defeated his opponents in the Wyoming Republican caucus, and Democrat Hillary Clinton notched a win in her party's caucus in the North Mariana Islands, a U.S. territory in the Pacific Ocean, near Guam.

Although only a few thousand voters participated in the D.C. contest, it was not an insignificant win for Rubio, who picked up 10 delegates on Saturday. Second place finisher, Ohio Gov. John Kasich, won nine.

Neither Trump or Cruz received enough votes to earn any delegates.

In Wyoming, Cruz, the only Republican candidate to campaign in the state, won nine of the 12 delegates being contested. Rubio and Trump each earned one, and one delegate remained uncommitted.

Wyoming has a hybrid system of awarding delegates. While 12 were up for grabs on Saturday, another 14 will be chosen at a GOP state convention in Mid-April.

There are also three other undeclared delegates - the state party chairman, and its national committee man and committee woman.

As for the Democratic race in the Northern Mariana Islands, Clinton received 54 percent of the votes cast, earning four of the territory's six delegates. Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont, received two.
