Ron Livingston Sues Over Gay Rumors

LOS ANGELES (CN) - "Office Space" star Ron Livingston claims an unknown person is spreading Internet lies about him, doctoring Wikipedia and Facebook entries to declare that the married actor is dating a man named Lee Dennison.

The anonymous perpetrator's campaign included setting up Web sites, altering genuine sites and impersonating Livingston online, all to support the rumor that Livingston is gay, Livingston's loan-out company, Coupleguys, claims in Superior Court.

Livingston claims that someone began altering his Wikipedia entry repeatedly in many, adding the allegation about Lee Dennison, and reinstating it "almost immediately" after Livingston deleted it.

In August, Livingston says, someone created a phony Facebook profile under his name, repeating the claim that he is dating Lee Dennison, according to the complaint.

The unknown defendant also created Facebook profiles in order to have them comment on Livingston's fake Facebook page, according to the complaint.

Livingston is married to Rosemarie DeWitt, who played the title character in the movie "Rachel Getting Married" and had continuing roles in "Standoff" and "Mad Men."

It is unclear from the complaint whether Livingston considers the Lee Dennison to whom it refers is a real or a fictional being.

Coupleguys accuses the John Doe defendant of libel and invasion of privacy.

Chad Fitzgerald with Kinsella Weitzman Iser represented Coupleguys in its claim for unspecified damages.
