Robert Novak Dies at 78

(CN) - Robert D. Novak, the conservative columnist who outed CIA agent Valerie Plame in 2003, died Tuesday morning at his home in Washington. He was 78.

Nicknamed the "Prince of Darkness" for his cultural pessimism, Novak had a successful career as a political columnist and cable television pundit.

His wife, Geraldine, said he died of a malignant brain tumor. He is survived by his wife and two children.
