SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (CN) - A bill that would allow citizens with proper permits to retrieve animal carcasses from Illinois' roadways will land on Gov. Pat Quinn's desk for signature.
There are some restrictions that limit citizens to claiming just certain types of in-season, furry mammals, but afterward they can do whatever they please with the roadkill - whether they skin them or use them in food dishes.
The bill passed the state Senate without opposition and now heads to the governor for final approval. Supporters of the bill claim it will save the state money as fewer employees will need to remove roadkill.
