DENVER (CN) - Members of the Polish National Rifle Team claim they were disqualified from an international rifle competition in Minnesota after United Airlines delivered the luggage carrying their firearms too late.
The rifle enthusiasts traveled from Warsaw, Poland to attend the 2006 World Compak Shooting Championship in Prior Lake, Minn. They checked their bags in Poland, and after several connecting flights, they arrived at the Minneapolis St. Paul International Airport on July 23, 2006. They claim their luggage showed up in August, the gun cases damaged from apparent forced entry.
The checked bags also contained clothing and toiletries.
The Polish nationals say the airline owes them for the inconvenience, damage and lost opportunity to compete.
