RICO Conspiracy Alleged at Bank

BROWNSVILLE, Texas (CN) - First National Bank of Edinburg Vice President Aurelio Garza conspired to destroy a construction company by demanding more than $100,000 in bribes and kickbacks to approve credit, the company owner says in a federal RICO claim. Plaintiff Mario Flores claims Garza had the brass to demand "loans" of cars too, and at one point was driving three of the Flores family cars.

When he decided to stop paying the bribes, Flores says, Garza destroyed his business by persuading other bankers and suppliers not to do business with him.

Flores says the First National Bank "appears to tolerate and/or condone this type of conduct by its loan officers, including Rogelio ('Roy') Rodriguez, who was recently indicted in connection with the PSJA school board bribery and kickback scandal."

Flores and his company, Creative Holdings Co., demand punitive damages for RICO c conspiracy. They are represented by Martin Frankel of Mission, Texas.
