WASHINGTON (CN) - The House formally chastised Republican Rep. Joe Wilson on Tuesday for shouting "You lie" during President Obama's televised speech last week.
The rare resolution said Wilson violated basic rules of decorum and civility, The Associated Press reported.
The finally vote was 233 Democrats and seven Republicans in favor of chastising Wilson, with 167 Republicans and 12 Democrats opposing the decision. Five Democrats voted "present," the AP reported.
It was the first time the House has admonished a member for speaking out while the president gave an address, the AP reported, citing a House historian.
Wilson made the outburst when Obama said during his speech that illegal immigrants wouldn't get federal subsidies for health insurance under his proposed plan to overhaul the health care industry.
