CHICAGO (CN) - The Evangelical Christian School in Chicago punished a student by making him stand, kneel and squat from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. for nine consecutive days, the child's mother claims in Cook County Court.
Sheila Spane says her son, Jonte, had to stand for three days, kneel for three days and squat for three days, with only a 30-minute lunch break each day. She claims the punishment injured her son's body and limbs, causing him to suffer "bodily pain and injury and mental anguish."
Defendant school officials and teachers include Jacquenette King, Georgia West, Angela Daniels and Stephanie Haberman. Spane wants defendants to pay more than $50,000 for her son's medical treatment. See complaint.
