WASHINGTON (CN) - Judicial Watch sued the Pentagon, demanding records on an admiral's order to purge Special Operations Command systems of "all records" on the mission that killed Osama bin Laden.
In its federal complaint, Judicial Watch says it sent the Department of Defense a FOIA request on June 7, seeking "(a)ll records concerning, regarding, or relating to Admiral McRaven's 2011 directive to purge USSOCOM of all records related to the operation leading to the death of Usama bin Laden on or about May 1, 2011."
Adm. William McRaven was commander of the Joint Special Operations Command from June 2008 to August 2011 and has been commander of the U.S. Special Operations Command since then.
Judicial Watch says the Pentagon missed its deadline to respond to the FOIA request. It wants to see the records.
It is represented by staff attorney Paul Orfanedes.
