Rebuffed Christian Group Gets High Court Review

(CN) - The U.S. Supreme Court on Monday agreed to decide if a California law school's refusal to recognize a Christian group that wanted to exclude gay and lesbians violated the Constitution.

The high court agreed to review lower court decisions upholding the anti-discrimination policy at the University of California's Hastings College of Law.

The Christian Legal Society had challenged the school's policy as an attack on its First Amendment rights, but federal courts in San Francisco sided with the law school.

Without comment, the justices agreed to take up the group's appeal. Arguments are expected to take place in the spring.

The case is Christian Legal Society Chapter v. Martinez et al, no. 08-1371.
