Reader’s Digest Accused Of Billing Fraud

LOS ANGELES (CN) - Reader's Digest Sales and Services defrauds the public by sending mass mailers that "appear to be invoices for publications ordered," though the people have ordered no such thing, according to a class-action complaint in Superior Court. The fraudulent invoices are labeled "REMINDER BILL," are actually solicitations, but "so closely resembled an invoice" that class members have sent money "upon the mistaken belief that they were obligated to pay," the complaint states.
