Rapper Accused of Vicious Assault

ATLANTA (CN) - Hip-hop artist Spodee beat a recording studio worker, held him gunpoint and had his posse hold him for 12 hours because of some missing bling that had just been misplaced, the man claims in court.

Norris Gresham Jr. sued Jhonathan Carle pka Spodee, five other men with rap handles, Echo Studios and Grand Hustle Management, in Fulton County State Court.

Gresham claims the rapper's men knocked out two of his front teeth during a brutal beating that came after Spodee couldn't find a gold- and diamond-encrusted neck chain and medallion.

Gresham claims he was beaten on Sept. 8, 2010 after Spodee accused him of swiping the bling during a session at Echo Recording studio in Atlanta.

Gresham claims that Spodee "did assault and batter the plaintiff."

The complaint continues: "The assault included pointing a gun at the plaintiff and threatening to kill plaintiff.

"The defendant did batter the plaintiff by hitting him in the mouth the body and face and knocking his front teeth out.

"The action of the defendant occurred because defendant Michael Render, Killa Mike, had lost of misplace [sic] a gold diamond encrusted neck chain and medallion. ... the plaintiff was held hostage and prevented from leaving the building for more than 12 hours during the search and interrogation of the defendant regarding the chain and medallion. The building in which the defendant Echo is located is owned and operated by defendant Hustle Mtg. [sic]"

During the ordeal, Gresham says, Spodee and Killa Mike both threatened to kill him. However, the complaint states: "The chain-medallion was found in the ceiling of the building. It was determined that it had been hidden by or with the knowledge of defendant Spodee. Spodee concluded that the plaintiff had revealed to defendant Killa that defendant Spodee had stolen the chain-medallion. As a result, the defendant Spodee became upset and disturbed with plaintiff.

"Shortly after the revelation regarding the chain-medallion, the defendant Spodee appeared with a gun that he apparently had also hidden, pointed the gun at the plaintiff and threatened to kill the plaintiff. The gun was taken away from defendant Spodee by defendant Cap. After which time the defendant Spodee was encourage [sic] to beat the plaintiff rather than shoot him."

"Cap" is defendant Terance Beasley, one of the managers of the studio.

Gesham claims the ordeal did not end when they found the bling.

"The defendant Spodee was sent to a secured locked area on the grounds of the building. The plaintiff was pushed down the stairs by defendant Cap and Macboney [Nathaniel Jorsy] to the same secured locked area. After which time, the defendant Spodee began to beat the plaintiff about the body and head. Causing the plaintiff to suffer the loss of his two front teeth, contusion, bruises and strain over and throughout his body," the complaint states.

It continues: "The defendant C-Rod [Cortex Thomas], during and in the course of his employment with TI, did record the assault on his cell phone and forwarded it to defendant TI [Clifford Harris Jr.]. Defendant TI did nothing to stop or prevent the assault. The assault and battery took place in or on the property that is owned by defendant TI and on or in a building that was owned and operated by defendant Hustle Mtg."

Gresham punitive damages for assault and battery, conspiracy and negligence.

He is represented by Antonio L. Thomas of Atlanta.
