Randy Quaid Accuses His Lawyer of ‘Gossip-Mongering’

LOS ANGELES (CN) - Actor Randy Quaid and his wife say their lawyer and business manager made secret deals to benefit himself rather than the couple and posted pictures and gossipy articles about them on his Web site.

The Quaids say Lloyd Braun was a trusted friend and business partner who had access to all kinds of personal information about them.

But Braun made some shady maneuvers, the Quaids say in Superior Court, by transferring their assets in and out of their names without their knowledge, hijacking the actor's advertising deals and refusing to hand over full accountings for Randy Quaid's movie earnings.

The couple also claims Braun engaged in "gossip-mongering" against them, posting "editorial content" about Randy Quaid along with unauthorized pictures of the couple on his Web site.

The couple is embroiled in a separate legal battle with a California innkeeper. They pleaded not guilty to skipping out on a $10,000 bill at the Santa Barbara, Calif., San Ysidro Ranch in December.

Michael Overing of Pasadena, Calif., is representing the Quaids in their lawsuit against Braun and his company, Berman-Braun.
