WASHINGTON (CN) - U.S. Forest Service employees who work with at-risk youth in rural and remote areas can be randomly tested for drugs, a federal judge ruled.
A union for employees of the Job Corps Civilian Conservation Centers said the random drug testing policy was overbroad and violated workers' Fourth Amendment rights.
But U.S. District Judge Beryl Howell granted the government's request for summary judgment and denied the union's request for an injunction.
The National Federation of Federal Employees, Federal District 1-IAM sued Secretary of Agriculture Thomas Vilsack on behalf of the employees.
