HOUSTON (CN) - Javier Barrios, who was hired to feed cattle, fix fences and bale hay at a Grimes County ranch, says he was hospitalized and now needs to use a walker because he followed his boss's orders to "tame" bulls. Javier Barrios said he told his boss he had no experience breaking bulls but the boss told him he had to do it.
Barrios said his boss at the Santa Gertrudis Cattle company, Harold Urbanosky, told him that breaking bulls was part of the job. Barrios said that when he tried to do it, two bulls charged him, pushed him against a fence and to the ground, sending him to the hospital for emergency back surgery. He says he suffered severe nerve damage in his right leg and now needs to use a walker.
Represented in Harris County Court by Domingo Garcia of Bellaire, Barrios demands punitive damages.
