Raelians Make Alarming Claims

SACRAMENTO (CN) - The International Raelian Movement claims the directors of Dragonslayers Productions and Muslims United TV used "extortion, blackmail, solicitation of mayhem, wire fraud" and threats of violence while making a film that falsely accused the Raelians of being a demonic cult that controls members through sexual misconduct.

The Raelian Movement was founded by Claude Vorihon ("Rael") in Paris in 1997. It supports human cloning, claims to have cloned a "new Eve" on Dec. 26, 2002, and believes extraterrestrials created humanity, according to media reports. It describes itself in this complaint as an international group that "promotes nonviolent philosophical teachings such as Intelligent Design and champions Human Rights worldwide and in California".

Here are the defendants: Abdullah Hashem, Joseph McGowen, Dragonslayer Productions, Hashem(s) Films, and Muslims United TV. This RICO lawsuit, filed by Thomas Easton of Springfield, Ore., is replete with alarming allegations.
