Radiation oncology Medicare fraud

ANNISTON, Ala. — A federal court in Alabama denied a cancer treatment center’s motion to dismiss a former oncologist’s claims that a radiation oncologist and the facility knowingly billed Medicare for radiation oncology services that were never performed or medically unnecessary. The oncologist’s amended complaint plausibly alleges that the Alabama cancer treatment program is liable for the submission of false Medicare claims on behalf of cancer specialists. The former employee’s allegations proceed under three separate claims.
