R. Kelly Allegedly Owes $250K to Private Eye

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (CN) - R. Kelly and his agent failed to pay $250,000 to a private investigator they hired to obtain tapes that were said to incriminate the R&B singer, Charles Freeman claims in Jackson County Court.

Freeman says he was hired in 2002 by Derrel McDavid, one of the singer's representatives, to recover the alleged tapes of Kelly, who was on trial at the time for 21 counts of child pornography. Kelly was acquitted of the pornography charges in 2008.

Freeman demands $300,000 in punitive damages. He represents himself through Truckers Legal Services.
