FAIRVIEW HEIGHTS, Ill. (CN) - A Kansas City woman locked herself in a McDonald's bathroom to escape her abductors, police said. The woman was on the phone with her sister when she was kidnapped around 2 p.m. Tuesday, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported.
"While on the phone, she said someone was trying to break into her apartment. Then the line went dead," according to a Kansas City police report.
A witness told police he saw two Hispanic men force a woman into a brown van and drive away.
Kansas City police said the victim called her sister Tuesday evening and told her she had locked herself in a McDonald's bathroom in Fairview Heights, Ill.
The manager eventually unlocked the bathroom and found the distraught woman on her cell phone. She does not speak English.
The manager called Fairview Heights police, who arrived about 6:30 p.m. and arrested two men in the parking lot who fit the witness's description. The woman had minor injuries.
Fairview Heights is 15 miles east of St. Louis.
