QB Johnny Manziel Set|to Turn Himself In

DALLAS (CN) - Former Cleveland Browns and Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel will turn himself in after a Texas judge set a $1,500 bond in his misdemeanor domestic assault case, his attorney says.

Manziel, 23, was formally indicted by a Dallas County grand jury on Tuesday, and faces one year in state prison and a $4,000 fine if convicted.

His ex-girlfriend, Colleen Crowley, 23, of Fort Worth, was allegedly hit in the head for trying to escape his car in January. She says the alleged assault left her unable to hear out of her left ear.

Crowley obtained a protective order against Manziel in Tarrant County Court in February.

An attorney for Manziel told the Dallas Morning News on Wednesday that his client will turn himself in next week.

Prosecutors and Manziel's attorneys agreed on the bail amount and no formal bail hearing was set. Manziel must appear in court on May 5 before Dallas County Judge Roberto Canas to hear the conditions of his bail.

The indictment did not seem to halt Manziel's well-known partying, as he was pictured at a Justin Bieber concert in Cleveland on Tuesday night with former Browns teammate Joe Haden.

Manziel became a household name when he became the first freshman to win the Heisman Trophy in 2012.

Wary of his partying after an offseason rehab stint, the Browns released Manziel last month after two difficult seasons. Manziel remains a free agent after being successively dropped this year by agents Erik Burkhart and Drew Rosehaus, who demanded he get help.
