PAUL, Minn. – The Minnesota Court of Appeals upheld the dismissal of a former Minnesota Supreme Court candidate’s claim against a man who made statements referring to her arrest on suspicion of drunken driving and her involvement in a high-profile family law case. As a perennial candidate for public office, the plaintiff is a public figure and cannot maintain a defamation-by-implication claim.
