Protection Demanded for Ashy Storm Petrel

SAN FRANCISCO (CN) - The Secretary of the Interior refused to list the Ashy Storm petrel as threatened or endangered, in violation of the Endangered Species Act, the Center for Biological Diversity claims in Federal Court. The little cousin of the albatross nests only off the coast of California and Baja California and faces extinction - only 5,400 breeding birds are left, the Center says.
