(CN) - Attorney General Eric Holder Jr. announced Monday that longtime federal prosecutor John Durham would examine nearly a dozen cases accusing CIA employees and contractors of torturing detainees.
The Justice Department's ethics office recommended that Holder override a Bush administration decision to close the cases. The move came as the CIA released a long-withheld, but still heavily redacted, report from its Inspector General on "Counterterrorism Detention and Interrogation Activities, September 2001-October 2003."
