MANHATTAN (CN) - An Irish concert promoter says American Talent Agency charged $600,000 to deliver glam rocker Lady Gaga for two concerts, but lacked the authority to seal the deal.
Grooveyard claims it paid a $300,000 down payment to book Lady Gaga at Dublin's O2 Arena and at the Odyssey Arena in Belfast. Grooveyard says it gave American Talent another $20,000 to look for other artists it could host.
Six weeks before the scheduled concert, Grooveyard says, booking agent AEG Live sent it a cease and desist letter, claiming it had the exclusive right to promote Lady Gaga and demanding that it drop plans for the shows, according to the complaint in New York County Court.
Grooveyard says it contacted American Talent immediately, but the agency refused to return calls or respond to letters.
Grooveyard sued Mateo Productions dba American Talent Agency, Raymond "Twin" Grant, Matthew "Mateo" Rajkumar and Kon Live Touring aka Konvict Muzik. It demands $1 million for breach of contract.
