Professor Sues ‘The White Stripes’

MONTREAL (CN) - Laval University Professor Dominique Payette claims the brother-sister rock duo The White Stripes used her voice without permission on the song "Jumble Jumble," on the band's 2000 album, De Stijl. Payette, who also is a radio journalist, says the album "reproduces lyrics which transmit a message that she would not have endorsed or shared."

She asks the superior court to stop distribution of the album and demands $70,000 in damages from Jack White, Meg White and Third Man Records.
