Prison for Setting|an Illegal Campfire

LOS ANGELES (CN) - Two men who set an illegal campfire in L.A. County that erupted into the destructive Colby Fire were sentenced Monday to 6 and 5 months in federal prison.

The Colby Fire swept through 1,700 acres of forest above Glendora in January and destroyed six homes, damaged eight others, and injured two firefighters and a civilian. Damages and costs of fighting the fire exceeded $6 million.

Clifford Eugene Henry Jr., 22, of Glendora, was sentenced Monday to 6 months in prison, to be followed by 3 years of probation.

Steven Robert Aguirre, 21, of Baldwin Park, was sentenced to 5 months, plus 3 years of supervised release, the U.S. Attorney's Office said.

They were tried together in May and found guilty of one felony and three misdemeanors.

A third defendant, Jonathan Carl Jarrell, was found guilty of a felony and a misdemeanor. He will be sentenced later this month.
