Principal Says Baptists Fired Her Because Women Shouldn’t Work Outside of Home

AUSTIN (CN) - Faith Baptist Church of Paige, Texas, fired its school principal and another administrator, and closed the school, because its pastor said the church is not "biblically sound: ... he does not believe women should work outside the home," the women claim in Travis County Court.

Rebecca Mayes and Lynda Eichorst sued Faith Baptist Church and Faith Baptist Academy School, which the church closed at the end of the 2008 school year after Pastor William Hutto objected to their working at it, according to the complaint.

The women say they had worked at the school since 2005. They demand punitive damages. They are represented by Kell Simon with the Ross Law Group.
