SAN FRANCISCO (CN) - A former senior manager at AU Optronics was sentenced Monday to two years in federal prison and fined $50,000 for his part in fixing prices on thin-film LCD displays.
Shiu Lung Leung, former senior manager of the Taiwanese company's Desktop Display Business Group, was convicted of worldwide price fixing in March 2012. Convicted with him were AU Optronics; its U.S. subsidiary, based in Milpitas, Calif.; former Optronics president Hsuan Bin Chien, and executive vice president Hui Hsuing.
A mistrial was declared in Leung's case. He was retried in November and convicted.
Eight companies and 13 executives have been convicted of fixing prices on thin-film liquid crystal displays. The companies have been fined $1.4 billion and the executives sentenced to prison terms of 6 to 36 months, the U.S. Attorney's Office said.
