Preliminary First Amendment win for Texas professor

AUSTIN, Texas — Texas State University philosophy professor Idris Robinson won a preliminary injunction ordering the university to reinstate him to his position as a tenure-track assistant professor. The university declined to renew his contract after people complained that he gave a speech titled “Strategic Lessons from the Palestinian Resistance” in Asheville, North Carolina. His The Israel-Palestine conflict is a matter of public concern, the speech did not disrupt university operations and the timeline supports an inference that this adverse employment action was motivated by complaints that he gave the speech.
