LOS ANGELES (CN) - Hundreds of children lost their little league home field, because the former Plaza Little League Board of Directors changed the group's name and switched leagues without letting its 400 members vote on the changes, a class action claims in Superior Court.
According to the lawsuit, the city of Long Beach assigned the Plaza Little League's usual home field to the newly named Heartwell Cal Ripkin - Babe Ruth League. Members say they never approved the name change, and the city should issue the permit to Plaza Little League as it has done in years past.
The board allegedly broke league bylaws by meeting in secret and enacting the changes without member consent. Members say they want to keep their corporation number along with their Little League Baseball affiliation.
