Political contributions

OLYMPIA, Wash. — The Washington Supreme Court upheld an $18 million penalty imposed upon the Grocery Manufacturers Association after it was found to have intentionally violated the state’s campaign finance laws. The court ruled the penalty for intentionally concealing where political contributions come from “may be based on the amount concealed” and the fine wasn’t unconstitutionally excessive.
