Police Widow Sues Hillary Clinton Campaign

DALLAS (CN) - Hilary Clinton's indecision, a defective helmet strap and a faulty 911 system are to blame for the 2008 death of Dallas police Officer Victor Lozada at the head of candidate Clinton's motorcade, the officer's widow claims in Dallas County Court.

Theresa Lozada sued Clinton, Hilary Clinton For President Inc., the City of Dallas and the Super Seer Corp., claiming the city's "911 failures" left her husband dying in the street for 12 minutes before it dispatched an ambulance.

Lozada, a 20-year veteran of the Dallas Police Department, had not been part of a motorcade before the day he died, Feb. 22, 2008, according to the complaint.

On that day, while performing a "slingshot maneuver" - speeding ahead of Clinton's motorcade to divert traffic - Lozada lost control of his motorcycle and slammed head-on into a concrete outcropping.

The widow says her husband lost control because of the city's poorly maintained roads, and that his helmet flew off as he was thrown from his motorcycle because its strap was defective.

She says the Clinton campaign gave inadequate notice that it would need a motorcade because of "indecision within Clinton Inc."

She claims the police department did not train her husband sufficiently, and that "any chances for life saving measures were destroyed by the inexcusable negligence ... in the operation of the 911 system."

"If an officer escorting a former first lady and then current presidential candidate in downtown Dallas has to wait an unreasonable of time to get an ambulance dispatched to the scene of his accident, no citizen in Dallas is safe," according to the complaint.

Lozada seeks damages for negligence, product liability, breach of warranty, gross negligence and wrongful death. She is represented by David Schiller of Plano.
