SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The Sacramento Bee and Los Angeles Times sued the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department on Friday, claiming the agency isn’t complying with a new state law requiring transparency regarding officer shootings and other use of force.

The lawsuit comes a day after an LA County judge declined to release records requested by media outlets and a Contra Costa County judge temporarily ordered several cities to hold back records requested from their police forces.
