CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (CN) - University of Illinois police searched the home, computer and e-mail accounts of a former gymnastics coach, serving search warrants after a video camera was found in a locker room. Jon Valdez helped train the U.S. team for the Beijing Olympics and resigned on Oct. 17, citing personal issues.
Until he quit, Valdez was an associate head coach at the University of Illinois. The Associated Press reported that he faces a drunken driving charge in Wisconsin.
Police Sgt. Tom Geiss told the AP that investigators are reviewing the information they recovered and they hope to turn it over to Champaign County prosecutors this week.
