WASHINGTON (CN) - The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service seeks comment on a recently completed Draft Economic Analysis on more than doubling the protected habitat of the endangered western snowy plover.
In March 2011, the USFWS said it planned to increase the acreage designated as critical habitat for recovery of the small coastal bird from 12,000 acres to more than 28,000.
The agency has reopened the comment period on its proposal to revise critical habitat designations, to receive input on the economic analysis and on including additional nesting areas that may have been excluded from its March proposal.
