CHICAGO (CN) - The City of Aurora caved in to abortion protesters and unconstitutionally refuses to let Planned Parenthood open its new, $7.5 million clinicthough the city already has issued all the permits necessary for it, Planned Parenthood claims in Federal Court.
Planned Parenthood says it complied with all the city's requests, and has the required occupancy and compliance permits, but in response to protesters who turned out on the streets and at City Council meetings, the city has "made it clear to Plaintiffs that it will not allow the facility to open for business and will instead review Plaintiffs' application immediately." Planned Parenthood said it already has hired doctors, nurses and staff for the Sept. 18 opening of a clinic to serve Chicago's western suburbs. It claims the city is denying it equal protection of the law, in violation of the 14th Amendment. It demands an injunction, costs and damages. See complaint.
