Planned Parenthood Shooter Still Incompetent

The man who killed three people at a Planned Parenthood in Colorado Springs last year is still not fit to stand trial.

COLORADO SPRINGS (CN) — The man who killed three people at a Planned Parenthood in Colorado Springs last year is still not fit to stand trial.

At a Thursday morning competency hearing, Fourth Judicial District Chief Judge Gilbert Martinez ordered Robert Dear to stay another 90 days at the Colorado Mental Health Institute in Pueblo.

Dear has been there since May, after two psychologists testified that he is mentally ill, with a delusional disorder.

Dear is charged with 179 counts of murder and attempted murder.

He killed University of Colorado police Officer Garrett Swasey, Iraq war veteran Ke'Arre Marcell Stewart, and Jennifer Markovsky, a mother of two, on Nov. 27, 2015, then surrendered after a five-hour standoff with police. Dear told the police he is a “warrior for the babies.”

Dear will undergo another competency review on Feb. 15, 2017.
