Pisco Not Just Any|Alcohol Agency Says

WASHINGTON (CN) - Brandy marketed as "Pisco" in the United States must be manufactured in accordance with the laws of Chile and Peru under new rules proposed by the Alcohol Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau.

Currently Pisco is not defined in U.S. law as a brandy, but rather as an alcoholic beverage from a general geographic area. The proposed regulations would define it as a brandy that is manufactured according to specific national regulations.

The public has until May 29 to comment on the proposal.
